Benchmark Playing Quizzes 2019-2020
About Benchmark Playing Quizzes:
Depending on the assignment, each student will be required to a play live playing quiz in front of a Band Director or submit video recordings of themselves online. Upon submitting these recordings, students will complete a short self-evaluation of their performance. The primary platform for submitting these recordings will be on the SeeSaw platform, using the app called Seesaw: The Learning Journal or the website found below. For any student that does not have access to the technology (internet, smartphone, tablet or computer), there will be opportunities to complete these assignments before/afterschool in the band room. The details of each assignment will be posted well before the due date.

Seesaw account setup instructions
Students only need to use the Student Code to join your class once. After they enter the Student Code the first time, they will stay connected to the class so they will just sign in to Seesaw with an email address/Google Account to access the class. Students are welcome to share devices, but every student must have their own Seesaw account (Sign-in and out of each account on the device). Students that do not have devices to use or share must contact a Director before the assignment is due.
- Open the Seesaw: The Learning Journal app or go to http://app.seesaw.me on a Chrome or Firefox browser.
- Choose I'm a Student.
- Choose Email / Google Account.
- Choose New Student.
- Choose to Create Email Account or Use Google Account.
- Type in the Student Code for your class.
- Create an account by entering:
First/Last Name – NOT a username. Must be given/preferred names.
Personal Email Address (Do NOT use your school email address).
Password
Click - Create Student Account

Honor & Concert Band Scale Tests
All assignments must be submitted on Seesaw by date provided. Multiple scales can be split into multiple submissions. All scales are pass or fail (100% or 60%), but can be resubmitted for a higher grade before the end of the quarter. Late submissions may be accepted, but the grade will be reduced. All scale tests should be played from the “WMS Scales” Sheet handed out in class.
Honor Band - All scales in Concert pitch
8th Grade: 2 Octave scales are always required when provided on WMS Scale sheet, unless otherwise specified.
7th Grade: Only 1 octave scales are required, unless otherwise specified.
